ABOUT THE ACADEMY
Carpenter Music Academy’s mission is to be an artistic center where children, teens, and adults feel welcome. All of our choices-from decor, staff, and philosophy are modeled to make an adult feel as comfortable as a child. We believe music is ageless, and everyone should have the opportunity to learn and pursue music. Our teaching style is flexible. We aim to teach to the student’s individual goals. One student may want to learn classical piano, one may want 90s rock, and another may want to make a Hip Hop beat. The core of the school is to always cater to the student.
MEET OUR FOUNDER
Michael Carpenter Jr.
Carpenter Music Academy was founded by Michael Carpenter Jr. in late 2024. Raised in Detroit, the birthplace of Motown, music inevitably became a staple in Michael’s life from a young age. He started taking guitar lessons at the age of eight, and by the time he became a professional musician at 20 years old, he had already learned six instruments. He spent most his twenties performing in various ensembles of different genres; jazz, blues, rock, and flamenco. But the one constant in his life was his love for teaching.
In the summer of 2014, Michael decided to move to Los Angeles, where he only knew two people. He had to he quickly build up his community through teaching, performing, and networking with other musicians. In a short amount of time, he was able to bolster his rapidly growing clientele list, and was teaching full-time. Carpenter Music Academy was a natural progression. “CMA represents a goal I’ve had as a life-long musician. A place where anyone, of any age, can come and thrive. A musical community.”
